WEDDING.

BARKER—GIBSON. A wedding which, althougl it was celebrated very quietly, exci fed much interest in South Canterbury, was that of Margery, only child of Dr and Mrs W. E. Gibson, Elizabeth street, Tiniaru, an<l Douglas, second son of Air and Mrs Frank Barker, Selwyn street, Tiniaru. The ceremony which was attended only by members of both families and intimate friends, took* place at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, j Tiniaru. The Ven. Archdeacon H W. Monaghan officiated, and Mr A. W, Vine was organist. Mr George Barker, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. The bride, escorted by her father, wore a gown of deep ivory satin, cut on straight fitting lines to lhe knees, then falling fully to the groind. From a diamond-shaped pane l ?n the bodice the high neckline cowled softly and the fitting sleeves were finished with tiny satin buttons. A girdle af plaited satin defined the waistline, and the long train was edged with a band of ruebing and a narrow frill of lace From a .Juliet cap of pearls, an exquisite, old Limerick lace veil, a family heirloom, was arranged with a short length of lace over the face. The bride carried a bouquet of freesias. Miss Peggy Unwin attended the biide, wearing a dainty frock of daffodil and cream patterned organdi over daffodil crepe de chine. A sash of the crepe de chine was tied in a huge bow at the back and the same material edged the three frills at the shoulderline. The long skirt was weighted with three narrow frills at the hem. She wore a small coronet of gold tissue outlined with seed pearls and carried a bouquet of lilies of the valley. Mrs Gibson wore a black and white tweed frock, a black seal coat, and a black bangkok hat finished with a steel ornament in front. She carried a bouquet of violets and winter roses. Mrs Barker’s ensemble was of cobalt blue. The tunic frock wa< of crepe de chino patterned in blue and white, and the lapels of the three-quarter length coat were edged with a pleating of the same material. The pleatings were repeated on the sleeves from the cuff to the elbow. Her blue bangkok hat was finished with clipped osprey

trimming of a deeper shade. Her bouquet was of red anemones, After the ceremony a small reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents. Mrs Douglas Barker travelled iu a brown angora tweed frock, a brown musquash fur coat, and a tic-scarf of taffeta in tonings of red, yellow and green. Her smart little “Parsons” hat was finished with a c.-cam silk cord.

Mr and Mrs Douglas Barker’s home will be Puhi Downs, Kaikoura.
