CONCERT.

There was a good attendance at the concert held in the Drill Hall on Wednesday evening in aid of funds to assist the Hanson family, the audience being most appreciative of the programme submitted, and cncoics were freely demanded of all the individual items. The Kaikoura Brass Band played the overture “Cycle Parade,” and later “Liverpudlian.” Vocal solos wore rendered by the following: Mrs G. Blackler, “Killarney, ” “Dawn,”

“Jessie’s Dream,” and “.Salam”; Rev. S. Gorney, “My Task,” and “The Powder Monkey”; Air W. F. Richardson, “Young Tom ’o Devon,” and “The Anvil Song.” Elocutionary numbers: Air W. F. Perrin, “Bethnal Green,” and “My Beastly Eyeglass”; Air F. Hendry, “Levinsky at the Wedding.” Trombone solos played by Mr E. J. Williams were “The Parachute,” and “Firefly.” Comet and trombone duets, Messrs H. Austin and E. J. Williams, “Excelsior,” and “Whisper Anil I Shall Hear.” Alisses E. and Al. Mackie played pianoforte duets, “Qui Vive,” and “Dainty Alias.” Violin solos, Air E. A. W. Smith, “ Moto-per-Petuo, ” and “Serenade.” Alisses E. Afacklc and L. Williams acted as accompanistcs during the evening. Air AV. F. Perrin apologised for the absence of Miss A. Burland and Air E. W. Harris owing to indisposition, and their places were ably filled by Airs G. Blackler and Air E. J. Williams. The audience joined in community singing, Air AV. F. Perrin acting as leader. The programme which was bright and entertaining concluded with a. one-act play presented by the Kaikoura Dramatic Company, entitled “The Dear Departed.” The performers were Airs C. Jensen (Airs Slater), Airs V. AVright (Airs Jordan) Mr E. J. Watts (Henry Slater) Air V. Wright (Ben Jordan), Aliss Doreen AVright (Victoria Slater) and Air C. A. Jensen (Abel Alerryweather). The play provoked much merriment and was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience. The programme concluded with “God Save The King,” played by Aliss E. Afackle.
