MEN'S BEAUTY PARIOUR

Weak-faced business men aie being given square chins, and politicians are having beetling brows fitted to make them look really important. Dissipated •■yes and strawberry noses are being made normal again. And all this is done by ,i little man with an electric needle who vorks- over a perambulator shop near Harley street, London (says a writer in the 44 Daily Dispatch”). Although this plastic surgeon listens to the woes of ugly women as well as not-so-nice-to-look-at men, special times are at the disposal of the men. And business and professional men pay him visits that are as secret as they are confidential. His clients include men with frowns which east disagreeable shadows, men with faces which have a hang-dog expression because of deep nose-to-mouth lines, and men with every kind of comic nose. All the treatments are not surgical. Some consist of building up depressions in the contour by means of a special compound resembling the fat of the body. The operation is simple and painless. The shape of a nose is completelv altered in this way. It takes half an hour and the result is permanent.

I was shown a frown which once marred the expression of Mr X. The frown now lies placidly on a gloss try. It had been removed that morning. There was also a 94in strip that had been taken from the prematurelywrinkled neck of the Countess ci , and a 4Jin piece from Lady —’s beautiful but baggy eyes.

Mouths that have sagged from teeth extractions and badly-fitting dentures are built up again with artificial gum, and the youthful appearance of the mouth is at once restored. Strawberry noses are entirely reconditioned. The skin is broken up, and after an hour’s treatment the nose becomes normal, corresponding with the natural tone of the face.

Recently an M.P. with a potato nose slipped into the consulting room. The nose is the easiest feature of all to alter. If it is too big, it can be reduced. A common little snub nose can be lengthened, and a too-pinched nose suggesting a vinegary disposition can be softened and beautified. Hook noses, saddle noses, wide and ugly nostrils arc quickly remedied. Operations arc effected on the inside of the nose. No outward mark is left, not oven where it has been necessary to reduce bone as well as tissue. . That ageing condition of the skin-red veins on checks or nose is corrected by the breaking up of the congested blood vessels. A schoolmaster whose natural expression was too mild to inspire the awe and respect of his pupils came to consult the surgeon. A thin line of colour was injected beneath the surface of his too-thin eyebrows. He returned to the school happy—and fero-cious-looking.
