SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

CHEVIOT SCHOOL. At a meeting or the Cheviot School Commit tec Mr A. C. Fuller presided. Two applications were received for the lease of the schoolhouse pad.l«rk. and Mr W. Fitzgerald’s tender was accepted subject to his repairing the fences to the satisfaction of the committee. Advice was received from the Canterbury Education Board that Mr J. J. Hurley and Mr R. Wild would visit the school ami inspect the grounds and buildings. The Board notified that it intended to appoint an assistant mistress at its next meeting, and recommended the committee to accept the appointment of Miss E. 11. Armstrong. The committee decided to endorse the appointment. The committee requested neighbouring school committees regarding a dental clinic. It was decided to enquire from the Education Board the conditions on which a district high school would be established.
