CHEVIOT NOTES.

| Mr R. Wilkinson, of Messrs Dalgely I and Co., Ltd., is at present on holiday. Mr C. H. Davies returned to Cheviot during the week, after spending a holiday in Kaikoura. A report of the Tuahiwi-Cheviot football match, for the Cameron Shield, will appear in Tuesday’s issue. A report of the anniversary social of the Cheviot Bible Class will appear in our next issue. Mr S. B. Clifford, County Clerk and Engineer, left Cheviot on Tuesday on a holiday visit to Australia. He expects to be away about a month. A movement is on foot to form a Ladies’ Guild in connection with St. John’s Church of England, and a meeting of ladies is to be held at an early date. Owing to the inclement weather, the annual meeting of the Mackenzie Tennin Club was not held on Tuesday, and will now take place on Tuesday next, September 15. Arrangements have been made to have a photograph of the Cheviot senior football team taken at Tuahiwi on Saturday. Anyone requiring a copy should communicate with the lion, secretary, Mr T. West. A deputation, representing the Canterbury court at the Dunedin Exhibition, waited on the County Council on Saturday last. After hearing the deputation, the Council decided to pay its quota towards the Canterbury court. To celebrate the success of the senior team in the Sub-Union competition, the Cheviot Football Club intends holding a grand victory dance. Particulars will be found in our advertising columns. The Plunkct Nurse will visit Cheviot on Monday next.
