Police Commissioner Childs recommended the Government to offer a reward of two hundred for Information leading to the apprehension of the man wanted in connection with Liverpool murders. , The search so far has been fruitless, hut goes on lndefatigably. COMMUNISTS SENTENCED (Per Unite# Press Assn.) Auckland. April 20 Said by detectives to be wellknown Communists and agitators, William John Budd, 35 seaman. Roderick Kenneth Rowlands, 34 were sentenced to three months’ gaol, for being idle and disorderly, with inauffieiant means. Budd waa remanded on a further charge of taking part in an unlawful assembly. Detectives said that the man rarely worked. Rowlands’ parents liyed in Auckland, and he had been living at the home of J, H. Edwards, a well-known Communist j leader. He spent the whole time associating with Communists, and speaking from their platforms Budd i was a very active Communist. When j told that he had been going round j union secretaries in Auckland, trying , to get the unions to strike, he asked ' the detectivea if the union secretar ■ j ies had given him away. A few days ago he was agitating.in Huntly. Neither accused gave evidence, but Rowlands’ father said his son was unable to work as he was paralysed down one side. The Magistrate commented that neither man had ever explained his means of livelihood. Richard James Schofield, 66, an* other Communist, was . remanded for sentence, on a charge of indecent language and disorderly behaviour.
