There was no development in the coel position yesterday, but it is expected the whole of the Miners 7 Lodges will have held their meetings for consideration of tho peace terms by Tuesday. The Federal Government is greatly concerned, by the minors’ hostility to any form of compromise and it is be lieved an effort will be made early in the Week to bring the parties together. A mass meeting of miners in New castle area yesterday almost unanimously rejected the peace teeme. Northern Miner* Reject Term* Rothbury Demand* Secret Ballot Reed 10 50 a m x Sydney, This Day The Northern miners, with the exception of a few small lodges, have rejected the terms approved by the miners' delegates. The Rothbury miners, however, are demanding a secret ballotOffer to Work Rothbury Mine The Minister for Mines, Mr Weaver, has received applications from skilled miners sufficient to man the Rothbury and another mine of a similar size. If there is no prospect of the miners resuming work, the Government will man these mines, and if the miners refuse the work that is offered, tenh the Government will withdraw the dole.
