GOVERNMENT SUBSIDIES ENCOURAGEMENT TO MEMBERS A meeting of the Coromandel Fire Brigade committee was held last Thursday afternoon when matters relating to brigade activities were discussed. The annual maintenance estimates were approved, which provide for the £1 for £1 subsidy from the Government up to a total of £250. In addition the Government is making available a free grant of £5O to assist the brigade in purchasing personal equipment. t It was said that Government recognition and expenditure would give very, great encouragement to the local brigade members by giving them up to date equipment and a pride in their appearance. »
