R.S.A. EXECUTIVE MEETS

PAEROA AND HAURAKI

A KEREPEHI SUB-QRANCH?

The November meeting of the Executive committee of the Paeroa and Hauraki Returned Services Association was held on November 28 when Mr F. T. Gregson presided over Messrs F. A. Daly, J. Farrow, E. C. Morgan, E. J. McKenzie, S. J. Tidswell, S. A. Beilby, R. Fades, R. Nield and J. M. Craig. .As three of the members of the committee were in hospital, it was resolved to write to each conveying the committee’s good wishes for a speedy recovery. The members were Messrs Bridge, Neale and Sims.

A letter from the Paeroa District Ambulance controlling committee was received. It was decided that the association had no power to contribute from its funds, but the chairman commended the appeal to all members for their individual support. The Papatoetoe R.S.A. wrote, suggesting that teams from its area visit Paeroa in January for an indoor bowls tourney, but as the association had no facilities for the playing of the game, it was reluctantly decided that the offer could not be accepted. In discussing the Christmas tree party which has been held for the past several years for the children of financial members of the association, the committee felt that more actual participation should 'be made available to the parents, and after a long, discussion, it was resolved that the Christmas tree party be no(, held this year, but that a picnic tye arranged for February 17, 1951, or thereabouts. Arrangements for the picnic will be made at the January meeting of the committee.

Kerepehi members of the association advised a desire to form a sub-branch and it was resolved to advise them that as long as they had not less than 25 financial members resident at least eight miles from Paeroa Post Office, the executive committee would be pleased to see a sub-branch in that area. Further discussions are to be held with the Kerepehi representatives.
