PERMIT TO RACE
MARAMARUA HUNT MAY RE HELD AT PAEROA THAMES TROTTING CLUB Among the 11 new totalisator per- 1 mits issued by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr Bodkin, licenses have been granted to two local clubs, the Maramarua Hunt and the Thames Trotting
Club. Hitherto the Maramarua Hunt has not held a totalisator permit but the Thames Trotting Club has for many years had two days, but last season received a floating permit and held an extra meeting on June 17. A meeting was held on August 12, and another is scheduled for January 27.
Although nothing has been definitely finalised as yet, the secretary of the Maramarua Hunt, Mr F. E. Hammond, of Ngatea, stated in a telephone conversation with a Gazette representative this morning, that it was the intention of his committee to approach the Ohinemuri Jockey Club in an endeavour to arrange for the race meeting to be held at Paeroa. Referring to the possible date of the meeting Mr Hammond said that if the date was available and the Ohinemuri Jockey Club was agreeable it was most likely that the meeting would be held some time in July. The Thames Trotting Club will use its new permit in March if a suitable date is available in that month.
