back road, Mangaiti. Several other bridges have had decking replaced. Other structures needing major repairs and in some cases practically renewing require the services of experienced bridge men. “It is now 15 months since the men we had resigned and although I have repeatedly asked that the appointing and housing of competent bridge men be treated as urgent very little has been done to make it an urgent matter. The position cannot be delay indefinitely. Waihi end of county: “During the period the crushing plant has worked on 15 days and crushed 630 yards of metal. • The men were used on several outside jobs. .The Waikino sandpit has been bored and several hundred yards are available. During this period 250 yards have been delivered to roads and sold. The maintenance and grading of all roads has continued. Waihi plant: “The starter of the motor at the IVaihi plant is giving considerable trouble. Several times lately fuses have been blown thus holding up crushing on account of having to get the boards Paeroa troubleman to make I’epairs. It is suggested that the reason for this is that the type of starter is the wrong type for a crusher motor and is too fierce in the starting, which puts a strain on both the motor and the driving belt. The trouble has been brought to the power board’s notice on several occasions, both by our own chairman and the troubleman but nothing has been done to rectify the matter.”
