A very pretty wedding was solemnised recently at St. George’s Anglican church, Thames, when Joe Rubina, second daughter of M'r and Mrs Wilfred Hamilton, “Dalmeny,” Whenuakite, was married to Sidney Arthur, second son of Mr and Mrs L. Laycock, of Tairua. The Rev. J. W. Smith officiated.

The bride, who was given m marriage by her father, wore an exquisite gown of white lace over heavy satin, cut on classical lines. The tight fitting lace bodice was peaked at the front and buttoned with tiny satin buttons to the waist at the back. The pretty net yoke was joined to the bodice with a lace frill and finished with a high neckline edged with rolled satin and the long, close fitting sleeves finished in a peak well over the hands. The full circular skirt fell into a long train and was edged with a lace frill which continued up the front of the skirt into a peak. The beautiful embroidered tulle veil, leht by a friend, was held in place by a tatted halo and coronet of orange blossoms. She wore a double string of pearls and earrings to match and a gold brooch. A keepsake of her late grandmother was pinned on her left shoulder. She carried a showed bouquet of white roses, sweet peas and stocks. Attending the .-bride were her two sisters, Viola and Cynthia Hamilton, whose dainty frocks of lavender and lemon silk net over deeper taffeta were cut on similar lines to* that, of the bride’s gown. The fully- gathered skirts with deep hemline frills were joined to the low waisted bodices- with double frills. On their heads they wore matching net halos, with lavender and lemon flowers, gold leaves and an unusual side draping and they carried shower 'bouquets of lavender and lemon gladioli, stock and- daffodils. The little flower girl, Valvena Vieira, cousin of the bride, was dressed in a three tiered apple green frock of similar material to the bridesmaids, with a headdress, of gathered net with centre filling of rainbow taffeta flowers and a satin bow tied under the chin. She carried a basket of rainbow coloured flowers to tone. Mr John Motion of Kaiangaroa attended the bridegroom and Mr Donald Laycock, brother of the bridegroom, was groomsman. A lucky satin and lace covered horseshoe was presented to the couple at the church, by little Heather Vieira, cousin of the bride, who wore the prettiest of pink frocks, decorated with silver cupids and pink flowers in her hair. The reception was held at the fire brigade hall, Pahu street, where the bride’s mother received her guests, wearing a natty 'blue suit with ecru accessories and a corsage of pink cyclament. Assisting her was the bridegroom’s mother, who wore a royal and navy blue ensemble with corsage of pink tulips; . The happy couple left for their honeymoon tour of Hawke’s Bay and Wanganui, the bride wearing a three tone green ensemble with suede and snakeskin accessories.
