THE GOOD DEED
COUNCIL SAVED EXPENSE
KOMATA FARMER’S ACTION
Appreciation for the co-operative action of Mr M. Vowles, of Komata, was expressed by the county engineer, Mr L. E. Shaw, at the October meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council.
Mr Shaw stated that after unsuccessfully boring for water in and around the Thames road quarry, Mr Monty Vowles was approached with the idea of obtaining a supply from a spring on his property. Mr Vowles had a high pressure pumping system and in the course of supplying water over his farm had agreed to supply water to the quany. The reticulation and installation at the plant has been completed and an excellent supply was available. It was suggested that the matter be recorded and Mr Vowles be sent a letter of thanks. His action has saved the council considerable expense in the putting down of a deep well bore and the purchase of a pump and motor and the housing of them, said Mr Shaw. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr Vowles and the county clerk instructed to write him expressing the council s appreciation of his action.
