With two nominations for the office of mayor and 16 for the eight vacancies on the council, more interest is being shown in Paeroa in the forthcoming local body elections than has been displayed for some time. Nominations closed at noon on Friday, and the election will be held on Saturday, November 18. In addition to the election for mayor and council, the Paeroa borough seats on the Thames Valley Electric-Power Board and the Thames Hospital Board, are both being contested and there will also be an election for the Hauraki Catchment Board for the seat representing the boroughs of Paeroa, Thames and Waihi.
