ELECTIONS IN PAEROA

CONTEST FOR MAYORALTY

VOTING ON SATURDAY NOV. 18

With two nominations for the office of mayor and 16 for the eight vacancies on the council, more interest is being shown in Paeroa in the forthcoming local body elections than has been displayed for some time. Nominations closed at noon on Friday, and the election will be held on Saturday, November 18. In addition to the election for mayor and council, the Paeroa borough seats on the Thames Valley Electric-Power Board and the Thames Hospital Board, are both being contested and there will also be an election for the Hauraki Catchment Board for the seat representing the boroughs of Paeroa, Thames and Waihi. DAVIES WITHDRAWS NOT STANDING FOR COUNCIL Mr N. C. Davies, a sitting member of the Paeroa Borough Council, has withdrawn his nomination for a seat on the council at the coming municipal elections and will contest the mayoralty only. Three nominations were received for three offices to be filled as trustees for three subdivisions of the Hauraki Plains West Drainage Board and the Returning Officer at Ngatea, Mr F. E. Hammond, has declared the following to be duly elected as trustees for the respective subdivisions for which they were nominated:— Puhanga-Island subdivision: David William Dudding. Miranda subdivision, Lawrence Edgar Hill. Waitakaruru subdivision, Laurie Bates. Six nominations have been received for the four offices to be filled as trustee for the Ngatea-Pipiroa subdivision of the Hauraki West Drainage Board.
