AMBULANCE ROOM
TIMBER NOT SUITABLE NEW PROPOSAL MADE ADDITIONS ON THE DOMAIN He had viewed the hut in Thames 'proposed to be erected on the 'Paeroa domain ias-an ambulance rooim, said iCr E. W. Lee, at the October meeting of the Paeroa Borough 'Council.
The timber was sap pine, if was niot 'pressure treated and would •have a life of 'only a few year's. He did not think the ibuiMing suitable to 'place upon the domain at all. As an altemnaitive Or Lee thought it was possible to add on •to the back of the main pavilion. Three rooms could be 'built on to
the 'pavilion with partitions and in his opinion it would not detract f rom the appearance of the building at all. In fact it would improve the appearance. It would cost approximately £5OO.
By adding on to the pavilion it would avoid applications from other sports bodies for separate buildings. The. three rooms would make it possible to cater for other sports bodies as well as the ambulance.
A big question had been opened up, said the mayor, Mr Edwin Edwards, who supported Cr Lee’s proposals for it would make accommodation available for ladies’ teams.
Further support came from Cr W. N. Chamberlain, who stated that it was the best proposal yet put forward.
If Paeroa obtained’ a mobile ambulance then the ladies’ clubs would have an area of 38 feet by 10 feet for their use, said the mayor. If the council was agreeable then the previous resolution could be rescinded. Cr Lee’s advice that the timber in the hut was not suitable should be accepted by the council for it was Cr Lee’s business to know what was satisfactory timber. * The previous resolution that alterations to the croquet pavilion to the cost ,of £l5O be carried out was accordingly rescinded. It was resolved that Cr Lee’s recommendation that three rooms (38 feet by 10 feet 4 inches), be added to the main pavilion at a cost of approximately £5OO for tire purpose of housing the ambulance and providing accommodation for lady fiockey and basketball players be considered in the next year’s estimates. That the principle of his scheme be approved and the works committee be asked to supply a full report.
