NATIONAL CYCLE RACE -— ■— .\ DAVE CARDEN SELECTED N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS Further cycling honours have been, won by Dave Carden, son of Mr R. S. Carden, of Paeroa, for he has now been chosen to represent the Waikato Cycling Centre at the New Zealand road championships to be held in. Christchurch on October 28. ' Dave Carden is a member of the Thames club, which together with. Paeroa people, will watch his performance with great interest and with con-* fidence, should he be able to makethe trip. In the Mt. Eden hill climband in the 50 mile road race at Te Aroha he proved his merit. In the hill climb Carden put up the second fastest time, the fastest time being recorded by T. Lambert, who represented the Dominion at the Empire Games,, the third fastest time being put up by Eric Hilroyd, also a British Empire Games representative. At Te Aroha over a very stiff course Carden , finished first and recorded fastest time-
In the championship meeting at Christchurch the main event is the scratch race of well over 100 miles in. which the best performers in the Dominion will take part.
