CALF CLUB
WAITAKARURU MEETING
OFFICERS FOR YEAR ELECTED
On Wednesday, October 18, a meeting of the Waitakaruru Calf Club took place at the school, the attendance being very satisfactory. ' Mr G. Ashford, president, took the chdir, and a brisk discussion took place regarding arrangements for the calf club day.
The following officers were elected: President, Mr G. Ashford; honary secretary, Mr C. Hinton; committee, Messrs H. Barker, W. Burdus, senior, W. Burdus, junior, R. Francis, T. Roberts and D. Rayner. The usual programme was arranged with the addition of a yearling championship for school class and a judging class for Young Farmers’ Club members.
The offer of cups for competition was made by Mrs T. Roberts and Messrs C. E. Rayner, D. Rayner and Young Bros, and was much apprecnated. The decision was made that a bring and buy stall should be held in the afternoon of club day and that the following residents, who have always been very kind in the past in conveying calveg to the school, should be asked to assist in the same way this year—namely, Messrs G. Adams, L. Blackler, N. Anstis, G. Slatter and G. Jellie.
The following officers were appointed:—
Patron, Mr J. Smith; chief steward, Mr T. Roberts; ring stewards, Messrs G. H. Ashford and W. Burdus, senior; ribbons, Mr H. Barker; records, Mr C. H. Hinton; announcer, Mr J. Smith; stewards, Messrs W. Burdus, junior, R. Francis and L. Blackler; judge of lambs, Mi* F. O’Brien; team stewards, Messrs W. Burdus and T. Roberts.
