SCHOOL HOSTELS

FATE OF LATE REMIT

GETTING ROUND THE RULES

Whether a remit had been received too late to be dealt with was fully discussed when ar iate remit from Mercury Bay that

hostels toe provided to accommodate girls at secondary schools wias brought before the biannual meeting of the Tlhames-Haurakii Plains District Federation of Women’s Institutes held at Thames last Tuesday.

The president, Mirs N. L. Lithigoiw, ruled that as 'the various institutes had not had an opportunity of considering the remit she could not 'permit its consideration.

Mrs F. Symes urged that as the matter was of considerable importance the rule should be waived. There was a waiting list of four years for accommodation for girls to enable them to attend secondary schools and such a matter should not 'be unnecessarily delayed in receiving attention from the institute.

Mrs G. Pinnock agreed with the ruling but suggested, that it would be in order for the meeting to discuss the matter and send the proposal forward as a - recommendation from the meeting. The meeting resolved that such be done and a resolution to that effect was duly carried.
