FIRST ON PLAINS
VARIEGATED THISTLE FOUND
PROBLEM IN HAWKES BAY
A sample of the variegated thistle, the eradication of which hiais been causing considerable concern in ithe Hawkes Bay, was produced by the noxious weeds inspector, Mr W. J. W. Flint, ait the October -meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council. Mr Flint said the piece which he had found on the Plains was only three months old and it was approximately four feet high. Ijj the Hawkes Bay the thistle was growing 12 feet high. ' The chairman, Mr C. W. Parfitt, expressed the opinion that if the thistle was growing 12 feet high in the Hawkes Bay it would* grow 30 feet high on the Plains.
