INSTITUTE CONCERT
A SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION
MANY ARTISTS AT PATETONGA
The Patetonga Women’s Institute held a successful concert in September with local and outside artists assisting. Mrs Climo, president, thanked the audience for attending and also thanked the artists for their assistance. The duties of M.C. were in the capable hands of Mr T. Dufty. The curtain was worked by Mr E. Costello. All dancing items were by pupils of Mrs Birkenhead, of Ngatea. After the performance supper was served to the artists.
The programme was as follows: — Songs by school children, pianoforte duet by Mrs L. Clark and MJss Wendy Hill; songs 'by Barry Hill, “Bless This House” and “Old Kentucky Home;” play, “Greedy Fire,” by school children; songs by Mrs Reid “Spring is Looking out the Window” and “The Land of Might Have Been;” sketch, “Breakfast For Two,” Mr and Mrs G. Pinnock, of Ngatea; duet, Mr and Mrs Bowman’, “For Ever and Ever” and “Far Away Places”; Mr Flowers, Thames, ventriloquist; pianoforte solo, Mrs Bowman, “Charmouese” and “Tales of Vienna;” songs, Miss M. Spice, “Suvla Bay” and “Cruising Down the River;” sketch, Mr and Mirs Pinnock, “In the Midst of Life We are in Death; Mr Whitehead, of Thames, magician; songs, Mr G. Pinnock, “Where’s the Sergeant?” “Roses of Picardy” and “Wandering the King’s Highway.”
Tap solos and duos, skipping solos and a waltz dog were given by the pupils of Mrs Birkenhead. The evening closed with the singing of “God Save the King.”
