CABARET BALL

BOYS’ BAND EFFORT GREAT SUCCESS AT TURUA The cabaret ball held in the Turua hall recently and sponsored by the Turua section of the Kerepehi Boys’ Band was a great success. Blue and white streamers decorated the ballroom, music being provided by Herb. Walker’s orchestra. Mr A. Whitehead carried out the duties of master of ceremonies. The guests of the evening. Miss Marie Coxhead and Miss Patsy Donaldson, queens of the Waitakaruru queen carnival, and their partsiers led a snowball waltz. Miss Coxhead and Mr G. Speedy won the Monte Carlo and Miss Raewyn Richmond and Mr B. Cox Won the Cinderella dance. The pupils of Miss V. McCoombe of Thames gave several items, the accompaniments being played by Mrs Walker on the piano and a drummer. Miss Beverley McCoombe entertained with a tap dance and song “You’re Adorable” and a recitation “Hilda’s Offer.” Among those present were:— Mesdames Whitehead, green crepe; C. K.
