CROQUET OPENS
VISITORS TO PAEROA CLUB WINNERS OF COMPETITIONS The Paeroa Ladies’ Croquet Club opened its season on Wednesday last when the weather was showery. The president, Mrs W. A. C. Stewart, welcomed members from Te Aroha, Waihi, Thames and Hikutaia clubs and then called dh the mayoress, Mrs Edwin Edwards, to open the lawns for play. During the afternoon various competitions were played, the results being:— Hurry • scurry: Mrs W. Wilson (Waihi); runner-up, Mrs J. Kidd (Paeroa). Ladder match, Mrs M. Beatty ( Paeroa); runner-up, Mrs Borrie (Waihi beach). Hoops at angles: Mrs B. Roberts and Mrs McKenzie. Crazy croquet Mrs W. Crimmins. Peeling hoop: Mrs W. Peploe; run-ner-up, Mrs S. Wheeler. A very nice afternoon tea was provided by the members of the club, after which the president presented the prizes to the winners of the various competitions playing during the afternoon.
