ZIP HEATERS
POWER SAVING DEVICE ENCOURAGING USE POWER BOARD’S POLICY If every consumer was permitted to install a four gallon Zip heater by the Thames Valley Electric-Power Board what would the board do when there was another shortage of electricity, asked iMr iW. A. Rushton at the September meeting of the board. 'Replying Mr R. Sprague, manager of the board, stated that if the board’s savings were not sufficient then the board would have to make restrictions. It would not effect Zip heaters very much as in many ways the Zip heater was a means of saving electricity. Mr Rushton moved that publicity be given to the board’s policy of permitting the installation of Zip heaters up to four gallons, which would have the effect of saving power. Opposition came from Mr H. L. Boughton, who took the view that the installation of Zip heaters would only encourage the use of electricity. People would use just as much hot water apart from the Zip heater. The motion was carried.
