WHITJANGA WATERFRONT A JOINT MEETING HELD Members of the Mercury Bay Women’s Institute and Mercury Bay Chamber of Commerce met recently to discuss improvements to the Whitianga waterfront between Che hotel and wharf. After inspecting the area, Mr It A. Simpson offered to burn off the rub-
bish vyith a flame thrower and then, he said, it would 'be possible to decide what could foe done. In an endeavour to have projects of this kind attended to it was decided that a beautifying society was needed and Mr A. J. T. Simpson agreed to convene a meeting with a view to its. formation. Women’s institute representatives were Mrs Hughes, president, Mesdames Oxley, Sharpies and Bronlund, and from the chamber of commerce, ■Messrs A. J. T. Simpson, R. A. Simpson and F. W. Kelsey. < ,
