•SUCCESSFUL OREN PAY L. J. SHAW IN FORM AGAIN ♦■ . ' On Sunday last the Paeroa Golf Club held its annual senior open day at the Rotbkohu links. With ideal weather conditions and the course at its best 65 competitors representing a number of clubs had a good day’s golf. , % J. G. Ferguson of Te Aroha played! sound golf to win the all day gross medal with rounds of 72 and 73 and’ G. J. Tucker of Matamata, on a handicap of 12, outstripped the field to win the 36 hole nett event with, an aggregate net score of 133. J. Barron Of '> Wailii played a splendid round of 72 gross to win the bogey handicap with a card of 2 up while P. Williams of Paeroa kept •his head well down to register a 77 gross and win the stableford bogey with 38 points. Trophy winners were:— 36 holes gross: J. G. Ferguson, Te Aroha, 72-73-145; runner-up, Mr R. Thompson, Paeroa, 77-71-148. 36 holes net: G. •€. Tucker, Mataimata, 157-J24j-I®3; runner-up, E. J. Lynch, Te Aroha, 158-20-138. Morning ibogey, J. Barron, Waihi, two up; runner-up, W. Murphy, Hauaaki Plains, all square. . Afternoon stableford: Winner, P. Williams, Paeroa, 38 .points; runnerup, N. Johnston, Matamata, 36 points , Teams match: P. Williams (Paeroa), G. C. Tucker (Matamata), J. MlcGuigan (Te Aroha), A. S. W. Wright ('Matamata), total-133 points. Hard luck prize: J. Mannix, Waihi. In the club competition on Saturday L. J. Shaw again distinguished himself with a round of 73 to win the senior division of the bogey handicap played with a score of two up. H. Pearse returned the best intermediate card, three down, while J. P. Sinnett played five below his handicap to win the junior event with a card of one down. The final round of the Waitemata cup set down for next Saturday has been postponed until .Saturday, September 3D, 1950, in order that members may battle with lady luck at the local racing fixture. A combined stableford bogey will be played by those who are able to resist the race course. Players will choose their own fours. •
