COROMANDEL BASKETBALL

MATCHES LAST SATURDAY

A busy day for sporting‘'clubs was registered at Coromandel last Saturday, there being two visiting football teams, one from Tairua, another from Waiuku and two club teams of basketball players from Whitianga. The basketball games were played on the school courts and some good play was seen. The results were:— Whitianga Kiwis 1, Coromandel 18. Another Whitiapga team was also defeated by Coromandel by 15 goals to 10.

In the first game the Coromandel players were far superior to the Kiwis hut in the second game the players were evenly matched and a good game resulted. Mrs Smith of Whitianga refereed the first game and Mr D. Longley the second.

Im the evening the Coromandel Basketball Club held a very successful dance in St. George’s hall When there was a very good attendance.

Popular music for the chancing was supplied by Mrs E. M. Lucas and Mr W. Hart, with extra foxtrots by Mrs Ngamane and Mr Hans Browne. A very nice supper was served by the sponsors.
