QUEEN CARNIVAL
\CONCERT AND DANCE
A WAITAKARURU SUCCESS ,

The stage with its decoration of greenery and flowers formed a dainty background for the pretty frocking of the girl artists and a very clever programme was well received by the large and appreciative audience. The pianist for the concert Was Mr Geo. Webby with Mr Alan Whitehead wielding the drum sticks in his usual able manner.
For the dance, which followed the concert, Mrs Clark of Turua officiated at the piano assisted by Mr Whiteheadwith the drum and their singing together in perfect harmony with their delightful music made the dancing go with a grand swing. Mr Tunny Clark of Turua was M.C.
Three competitions were held and were won by Miss Margaret Jamieson of Turua and Messrs Ashford and K. Coxhead. A lucky dip was well patronised. There was also a stall selling sWeets and-produce and supper had to be bought for 1/-; but it was a very good supper and so everyone was happy about it.
The concert programme .was as follows: —
Character dance, “Zardis,” Colleen Dowd, Beverley McComb and Gay Sveistrup. Recitation, “Morning at School,” Valeriy Mclnnarney. -Dance,
