A REMIT FROM PAEROA
INSTRUCTION CLASS USE OF FARM MACHINERY The engineering school at Thames was not one that would educate farmers or their sons in the use of farm machinery at all, stated Mr S. Tukukinio at the July meeting of the Paeroa branch of Federated Farmers.
The meeting was discussing tftie fate of a remit from the Paeroa branch dealt with by the June meeting of the Northern Thames sub-provin-cial executive held recently in Thames. It was evident, said Mr 0. P. Liddell, that the Thames chairman’s statements that a suitable school of engineering already existed at Thames
had influenced the meeting whereas the engineering school there merely gave instruction in the making of engineering machine tools. Some good had been achieved, said Mr R. Kilgour, who pointed out that although the original remit had been amended to cover the organising of field days for instruction in the use of farm machinery the (branch could still press for the adoption of the original remit which should not be allowed to be dropped. It was finally resolved that the branch persist in its advocacy for classes of instruction in the repair and maintenance of farm implements and machinery.
