PAEROA TRAFFIC REPORT
“Nineteen applicants were tested for drivers licenses during the month of June last. Two of these applicants failed to pass the test-given, stated the report of Mr W. Hackett, traffic inspector, to the July meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council. <%)f the nineteen applicants five were over seventy years of age and were undergoing a retest. “Two traffic offence notices were issued. One for failing to stop at a .pedestrian crossing and one for failing to observe the right hand rule: “Twelve warnings were issued for minor breaches of the regulations. “One prosecution was conducted for a traffic offence'in the borough. Both mobile and foot patrols have been maintained throughout the month and irregular but frequent night patrols have also been carried out.
It >has been noticed with concern the increasing numbers of cyclists who will consistently use their cycles at night without any light attached. It is proposed by myself to put an article in the local .paper regarding this matter and, if the Same continues, prosecutions will ibe taken. No accidents of a serious nature have been reported during the month, concluded the report. The council resolved that the report be received and that Mr Hackett be requested to pay special attention to the of traffic in Belmont road nerir the New Zealand Government Railway Road Services depot in that street.
