AHEAD OF SCHEDULE
WHANGAPOUA SETTLEMENT
SHEDS BEING USED AS HOUSES
The settlement on the Whangapoua block has apparently been speeded up and is ahead of schedule, the reason being, so it is understood, that it was desired to have the ballots taken and the returned' servicemen installed on their respective farms. Unfortunately, the houses are not finished. Many of them have no floors, doors, etc., yet a gang of men is now putting in prefabricated partitions in the large implement sheds and turning them into temporary houses until the others are completed. The partitions are being screwed into place and, when no longer required, will be sent on to another block of land for the same purpose. The implement sheds are large and sturdy, and it is said that the temporary arrangements provided will be quite comfortable. This measure has been induced' mainly because the cows are coming in very shortly and the men must ben on their farms te cope with the situation. '
