DRAMATIC SOCIETY
MEETING AT THE BAY TWO PLAYS PRESENTED There was a good attendance at the July meeting of the Whitianga Musical and Dramatic Society. For the first time this year the night of the meeting was fine, and in the absence of the president, Mr W. Hughes, Mr L. V. Smith was in the chair.
It was reported that, at the September meeting, Mr Ron Dellow of Auckland would give an address on “What to listen for in music.” The first item on the programme was a recitation, W. Gilbert’s “Etiquette,” by Mr C. H. M. Simpson. The one-act comedy, “The Goose Chase,” was presented by Mrs Sharpies as Lizzie, Mrs Crabb as Aunt
Pops, Mrs R. H. Simpson as Peggy, Mrs Lee -as Jane, Mrs Hughes as Aunt Hannah, and Mrs Lowe as Cowslip. \ . The comedy, “Eldorado,” was read, the cast being Messrs L. V. Smith as James, H. W. Arnold as Henry, Mrs C. H. M. Simpson as Emma, and Miss Lee as Betsy. With Mr Arnold' as Henry VIII, Mrs Bronlund as Catherine, and Miss Josephine Hughes as the page, the short play “Catherine Parr” was presented. x Members of the committee served supper.
