PLAINS BADMINTON
ANNUAL MEETING HELD PIPIROA ELECTS OFFICERS The annual meeting of the Pipiroa Badminton Club was held recently in the Pipiroa hall, when the president, Mr S. Donaghy, presided' over an excellent attendance of members and intending members. In his annual report Mr Donaghy stated that the 1949 badminton season had been a very successful one and he hoped that members would enjoy the coming season even more than the last. He thanked his officers for their able assistance throughout the season. It was decided to hold play nights on Tuesdays and Thursdays this year. The yearly subscription was to be 12/6.
The officers elected for the ensuing year were as follows:— Patron, Mr F. L. Wallis; president, Mr ,S. Donaghy; vice-presidents, Messrs E. Scott, J. Dalgety, and D. 0. Dalgety; secretary, Mrs K. H. Moffatt; club captain, Mr D. C. Dalgety; committee, Miss E. Wallis and Mr Dave Dalgety; delegates to association meetings, Messrs Donaghy and D. C. Dalgety; press correspondent, Miss L. Scott.
The meeting closed with a hearty vote of thanks to the chair.
PIPIROA SEASON OPENS LARGE NUMBER PRESENT There was a large crowd of very keen players present at the opening night of the Pipiroa Badminton Club. The Yankee tournament held created much interest and there were some very good games witnessed. The winners were Mr Duncan Dalgety and Miss Laurel Scott.
Highlight of the evening was the delicious supper provided by the ladies. The president, Mr S. Donaghy, wished members a good season’s badminton and made a special welcome to the numerous new players.
