HUMOROUS INTERLUDE CHAIRMAN AND MEMBER SPAR After the board’s secretary, Mr C. H. Walsh, had read to the May meeting of the Hauraki Catchment Board, a scientific dissertation, couched - in technical terms, upon the habits of sand flies and methods advocated for ridding Te Aroha of the nuisance, the board’s chairman, Mr H. M. Corbett, amidst laughter, asked Mr J. F. Mayn whether he had any proposal to make as to how the position should be handled.
“Certainly I have,” was the prompt reply of Mr Mayn, who moved that the matter be left in the hands of the chairman with power to act. It was evident to him, concluded Mr Mayn, that the Department of Scientific Research considered the catchment board capable of handling any matter. - •
