OBITUARY

MRS ETHEL M. FISHER 30 YEARS AT MARAMARUA The death has occurred of Mrs Ethel Maude Fisher, aged 67 years, late of Maramarua. Over 34 years ago, Mrs Fisher eame with her husband and small son to settle on a sheep farm on what was then known at Foote’s road. After living for some time in a two-roomed whare, they built the nice house which still commands a fine view of the district. Mrs Fisher was a great help in all the district activities, bringing with her many artistic accomplishments valuable to the cultural side of rural life. A clever *pianiste, needlewoman and painter of no mean ability, Mi’s Fisher was also top of the tennis ladder when Maramarua’s first club was formed. A great lover of horses, her five children were well mounted when the hunt came into being and she hostessed a number of meets on their property. Also a valuable church member, Mrs Fisher met the tragedy of losing three of her family at differerent times with great Christian fortitude and 1 was always first to comfort anyone in sororw.

Retiring three years ago and living first at Maraetai and then at Plimmerton, Mrs Fisher was staying with her daughter at Pukekohe when her death took place. She will be sadly missed by a large circle of friends. Her remaining family is Mr W. Fisher, Mrs F. Shuker (Mangatangi), Mrs I. Findlay (Pukekohe) and five grandchildren.
