RECORD TRAFFIC
WHITIANGA ROADS COUNTY FOREMAN’S REPORT Owing to the record holiday traffic at Whitianga the surface of the roads in the township area show signs of deteriorating stated the report of Mr J. T. Hinchco, county foreman, at the February meeting of the Coromandel County Council. The township roads had been kept in a reasonable state of repair by the use of the light horse grader in conjunction with a lorry. Repairs were carried out to the steps of the wharf. The lender piles at the ferry landing had been renewed. Broken decking planks on No. 1 bridge- on the Kuaotunu-Whitianga No. 4 road had been repaired. Two hardwood decking planks have been delivered to the wharf to allow for repairs to be effected. One bridge on the Kaimarama road urgently needed repairs and arrangements for measurements to be taken had been made, concluded the report.
