NARROW ESCAPE
SAT ON NEST OF WASPS INCIDENT AT MATATOKI Not everyone can ait on a neet of wasps without very unpleasant consequences, but Mr H. E. Harden was fortunate indeed when, near his resit dence in Warahoe road, Matatoki, ho suddenly discovered that he was sit* ting on a nest.
Mr Harden was, at the time of getting one of life’s surprises, sitting on the side of the road playing with hi* grandson. The neet was of European wasps and no novelty in the district. Last year many such nests were found at Matatoki. Large quantities ef DDT were sent out last year for the destruction of nests in Turua, Hiku> taia, Mangatarata and Whangamata.' It is at this time of the year that wasps begin their wort of dostroclfcdt. Steps are being taken already to bat the post Thp Eurtpoha was» causes the damage, and the tree wasp is considered to ho gotta harmless.
