NOT KEEPING LEFT

COUNTY TRAFFIC

INSPECTOR’S REPORT

OHINEML’RI COUNCIL’S AREA

During the months of December and January last 10 motorists were warned for minor breaches of traffic regulations, stated the report of Mr. W. Hackett, traffic inspector, to the February meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council.

The report went on to state that there were no prosecutions during the

periods under review for offences in the county area. Four motorists had offence notices issued to them. The most noticeable type of offence was that of failing to keep to the left hand side of the centre line. That occurred particularly in the Waihi gorge road. Though an excellent job of road marking had been carried out prior to the holiday period, the continuous heat had caused the road surface to run and, together with the larger vohune of traffic, the markings had become obscure. The report concluded by stating that there had been no accidents involving personal injury.
