FINAL MEET

MARAMARUA HUNT VISITING HUNTSMEN 100 FOLLOWERS ATTEND The final meet of the Maramarua Hunt was held on Saturday last at Maramarua over the properties of Messrs McLoughlin, James, Peaches and F. Hale. Weather conditions were good, only one light shower falling during the day. The very field of followers which numbered nearly 100, had a great day’s outing over the rolling countryside. There was one four mile run which brought a kill for the hounds and finished with a nine mile run, after which the second hare to be put up for the day was lost.

Pakaranga and Waikato hunt members as well as Maramarua ward members from Paeroa, Waihi, Matira, Waerenga and Pukekawa were present in full force and brought a splendid hunting season to a fitting close.

Breakfast and afternoon tea was served by the lady residents of Maramarua.

In the afternoon the master, Mr A. C. Feist, welcomed all the visiting riders, saying how pleased he was to see such a large attendance from the Maramarua wards. He expressed the hope that both the visitors and members had enjoyed the day.

Mr Feist said hp wished to thank all landowners throughout the wards, over whose properties they had hunted and also 'all the ladies who had so willingly extended hospitality to them at the various meets and the many who helped in other ways included in which he would like to mention Mr Bond of Maramarua.

Mr Feist said he wished to congratulate the various wards on thejr work and enthusiasm during the season. The speaker also extended congratulations to the new huntsman, Mr T. Symes, on his success with the hounds. What had been a very small pack at the beginning of the season should be a first class one by next years in the capable hands of Mr Symes, said Mr Feist. Mr R. Golledge of Morrinsville, on behalf of the Waikato followers, thanked the master for Ms welcome and for a splendid day’s hunting.
