ACTION DELAYED

RATEPAYERS OBJECT SCHEME HELD UP DRAINAGE BOARD’S DECISION The members of the Netherton Drainage Boajsd by a unanimous vote at the last meeting of the board decided against continuing with the scheme for the installation of the proposed flood pump at Crow’s outlet. Several ratepayers had written to the board objecting to such a scheme for various reasons and as a result members decided against the scheme in its present form.

The board’s said the chairman, Mr F. H. Bennett, did not mean that the installation of flood pumps had been allowed to lapse altogether but merely that the matter was in abeyance in the meantime pending further enquiries and investigation into latest, developments in that direction.

Mr Bennett stressed the fact that the sole aim of the board was to act in all matters with the full consent of the ratepayers and seeing that some ratepayers had objected to the proposal the board had naturally delayed taking action the matter had been fully investigated.
