RETURNED MEN FIRST

PRIORITY GRANTED VETERINARY CLUB DECISION Returned servicemen should not be denied anything because of their service abroad, said Mr J- H. Robins, veterinary surgeon to the Farmers’ Veterinary Club, at the monthly meeting of the club held recently in Ngatea. Mr J. H. Robins said that though he was a returned serviceman himself he had never seen the necessity for giving returned servicemen something which was not offered to other members of the community. Those who had remained at home and had farmed had many years opportunity of joining the veterinary club. The returned men now being settled on land had not had that opportunity. Membership of the club was closed and the speaker said that he thought that whenever a vacancy in membership did occur then returned servicemen should be given priority. Mr Robins then moved that priority in club membership be given to exservicemen in receipt of a rehabilitation grant. Upon being put to the meeting the motion was carried unanimously.
