The first Rugby match for the Waione Cup was played at Whitianga. on Saturday, when Kuaotunu defeated United by fifteen points to three. There was a good crowd of spectators, and although the weather was perfect, the game was dull and slow. Playing at Tairua on Saturday Tai-rua-Hikuai defeated Whitianga in a Waione cup match by 32 points to 8.
Matches for the Waione cup round for next Saturday are as follows: Whitianga v. United at Whenuakite; referee, Mr Hinds. Tairua-llikuai v. Kuaotunu at Whitianga; referee, Mr Donaghy.
