Large Schnapper Caught
A large schnapper stated by Mr H. Harsant, a w ell-known authority, to be of record weight for the Hahei, Mercury Bay district, was caught on a set line by Messrs S. F. Wood and N. S. McNaughton while they were fishing off Hahei, near Mahurangi or Goat Island recently. Measuring 2 ft. U in. in length the fish turned the scales at 19 lb. 3 oz. and was not coarse and tough as large schnapper are often imagined to be.
