TWO COURTS

RAILWAY TENNIS CLUB TO BE CONSTRUCTED LEVELLING OF THE AREA The residents of the Railway settlement in Paeroa are to have constructed immediately, in their area, two asphalt tennis courts. This information was conveyed to members of the Paeroa Borough Council by Mr C. E. L. Thomas, district engineer, Department of Housing Construction, Hamilton, at the informal meeting which took place between the councillors and the representatives of the department recently.

Mr Thomas then made the suggestion that, if the council were agreeable, at the same time that his machines did the levelling work for

the two courts in question he would be prepared to have a further area levelled, sufficient for the laying down of another two courts which would be needed at some future time.

To the proposal the councillors readily agreed and the mayor, Mr Edwin Edwards, expressed the council’s appreciation of the very helpful way in which Mr Thomas always met every situation. It was always a great pleasure to do business with Mr Thomas, who was at all times most willing to co-operate and get round all the many difficulties that necessarily cropped up in the carrying out of public works, continued the mayor.
