DOING A GOOD JOB

BOROUGH WORKMEN “CREDIT TO COUNCIL” WORK ON AORANGI BLOCK “ I have seldom seen a job so well done by any council staff,” said Mr G. E. L. Thomas, district engineer, Department of Housing Construction, Hamilton, at the April meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council. “ They are doing a great job and the work is a great credit to your council.” These remarks referred to the reading, water supply and sewerage construction work on the Aorangi block, which is being carried out by the Paeroa Borough Council’s staff under the control of leading hand Mr W. M. Warner and the borough foreman, Mr R. Nield. Mr Thomas said that his department was making provision for the planting of trees in this areajand he would be grateful if the borough council could assist in such planting by providing some of the necessary labour. To the request the councillors readily agreed and the mayor, Mr Edwin Edwards, assured Mr Thomas that when the time came for the planting the council would willingly provide several men for several days for the purpose.
