YOUNG BANDSMEN

PROMISING PLAYERS SUCCESSES AT CONTEST At the South Auckland band contest held at Cambridge during Easter week-end, Peter Connor of the Kerepehi Boys’ Brass Band won a medal, being placed second in the open b-flat •bass solo competition. He was only one point below the winner. Peter also came fourth in the boys’ solo, playing against all instruments other than cornet. For this he was awarded a certificate. Max Vivian played in the cornet section, and came fourth, being three points behind the winner. He also received a certificate. Mr R. J. Estall, who was the adjudicator, stated that he regarded both . boys as being very promising and predicted a great future for them.
