STOCK OFFERED

PAEROA HIGH SCHOOL HORTICULTURAL PROJECT SCHEME TO BE INVESTIGATED “ Several promises to donate stock for the purpose of establishing a horticultural project at the Paeroa District High School have already been made,” said Mr L. Wrigley at the recent meeting of the school committee. “ All the stock required will be given without any conditions or tags.” A letter from Mr Vryn Evans, of Northcote, was read to the committee and this set forth in considerable detail the manner in which the horticultural project at Northcote College, Auckland, was being carried out. The scheme there functioned through a co-operative company formed to promote interest in horticulture and farming, to develop business understanding and cultivate a knowledge of the duties embraced in the offices of director and secretary and also to cultivate knowledge in the organising of the growing and marketing of produce and stock. ' There was considerable discussion as to whether the area available to the committee was sufficient to permit the project being undertaken. Finally all members were satisfied that there was land sufficient for the purpose.

It was decided that the matter was one of very great importance and one which warranted a special meeting of the committee being held when every aspect of the proposal could be fully discussed. As soon as further particulars are available a special meeting will be called.
