ALL COLLECTED

RATES IN PAEROA TOWN CLERK CONGRATULATED “For the second year in succession a record that cannot be beaten has been established by the Paeroa Borough Council,” said the Mayor, Mr Edwin Edwards, at the meeting of the council held last week. “One hundred per cent, of the total rates has been again collected by Mr M. C. Baker, town clerk and treasurer. This is a great record and one of which the council has every reason to be proud of,” said Mr Edwards. ’ The rates collected comprise the amalgamated rate, water rate and the rates which are collected by the council but payable to the Hauraki Catchment Board. The total of these amounted to the sum of £11,922 7s lOd. “ I particularly wish to express to Mr Baker the council’s ‘ thanks for the splendid work which has been done by him and his staff and I would like to see our appreciation recorded in the minute book,” continued the mayor. The deputy mayor, Mr J. H. Walmsley, endorsed the remarks made by the Mayor and a motion was unanimously carried embodying the appreciation of the council for the excellent work done.
