PIGS IN DEMAND
£6/15/- FOR BACONERS STOCK SALE IN PAEROA EXPORT AND LOCAL BUYERS There was a good yarding at the recent Paeroa stock sale, report Messrs G. W. Vercoe and Company Limited, and all classes of cattle changed hands at current market values.
Fat bacon pigs were in demand and readily sold for £6 15s, while heavy choppers made to £9 Bs.
The best springing Jersey heifers made to £l2, others, not so forward, to £lO, while dairy cows, calved and close to profit, changed hands at £l3 10s. w The advertised line of one-shear S.D. rams came forward in good order, a total clearance being effected from 7 to 8 gns.
There was a good bench of export and local buyers for the fat and boner cows penned, the best making to £lO 15s, and medium fat to £9 10s. There was the seasonal entry of potter bulls, the best matting to £l4 15s, and others to £lO 15s. Quotations are as follows: —
Prime fat'baconers, £0 13s to £6 15s; medium, £6 2a to £6 8s; light, £5 6s to £5 18s; heavy porkers, £4 16s to £5 Is; medium, £4 5s to £4 13s; 'buttermilk pigs, £3 12s to £4 3s; light, £2 16s to £3 2s; good store pigs, £2 4s to £2 13s; slips, 27s *to 31s; weaners, 13s to 15s 6d; heavy choppers, £8 14s to £9 8s; medium, £5 7s 6d to £5 15s; Large White boars, £6 6e; Tamworth boars, £6 6s; Berkshire sows, to farrow, to £6 15s. Fat lambs; to £2; store lambs, to 21s 3d; 2-tooth ewes, to £1 14s; fiveyear ewes, 27s to 295; aged ewes, 15s to 20s 6d; one-shear S-D. rams, 7 to 8 gns.
