84th BIRTHDAY

PARTY AT COROGLEN MR C. H- BEYNON CELEBRATES To celebrate his 84th birthday with his children in Coroglen, Mr C. H. Beynon of Petone and his wife, aged 83, took their first trip in an aeroplane, accompanied by their grandson, Mr Jim Beynon, who flew down to Wellington to bring them back. On Saturday, February 26, a large crowd from Coroglen, Whenuakite, Tairua, Hikuai and Mercury Bay assembled in the Coroglen hall to honour Mr Beynon. Mr Harry Beynon congratulated his father before the cake was cut and Fay Minifie presented her great-grandmother with a bouquet to the accompaniment of “ Happy Birthday ” and “ For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow,” sung by the guests. There were present Mr and Mrs Beynon’s son and daughter, Mr H. Beynon and Mrs Minifie; three grandsons, Messrs Jo and Jack Minifie and

Jim Beynon, and seven great-grand-.children, Fay, Joy, Wilma, Anne and Pam Minifie and Rona and Cafolyn Beynon. The music was supplied by the Bruce brothers and Mr B. Hutcheson while Mr Jo Minifie was M.C. Congratulations were also extended to Mr J. C. Minifie on his coming birthday. A happy evening closed with thanks to all helpers, particularly Mesdames R. Hodge and L. Oliver and Mr and Mrs Wood.
