ANNUAL MEETING

ODDFELLOWS LODGE TRIP TO WAITOMO CAVES The annual meeting of the Loyal Hauraki Lodge, Coromandel, was held on Monday, February 21, when the N.G., Sister O. Dobbs, presided over a good attendance of members. The balance sheet was read*and adopted. A slight decrease in membership was shown for the year 1947-48, but the roll stood at 113 financial members and it was hoped to make the membership roll higher by the end of the year. Several new windows had been put in the lodge hall, and it was hoped to paint the building in the near future. It was also anticipated that other* improvements would be carried out before the winter.

9 The annual election of one trustee resulted in P.G., Bro. S. K. Chapman, being re-elected, subject to his approval. P.G., Sis. P, E. Riley, resigned from her position of trustee and P.G., Sister L. Fisher, was elected in her place. P.G., Bro. K. A. McNeil, was re-elected as treasure!. P.G., Sis. E. M. Lucas, was elected as delegate to the annual conference in Auckland on March 29. The suggested two-day trip to Waitomo caves was discussed and the secretary repci ted that a bus was available at a suitable price and, subject to accommodation being available, it was decided to fix on April 30 for the trip . After the lodge meeting had closed, supper was served and, as it was an open night, several visitors joined in the social hour. A very pleasant time was spent in games and dancing. It was decided to hold a kitchen evening, on March 2 cn behalf of two members who are shortly to be married.
